SECOND PLACE IN THE HEALTHCARE TRACK!
Myself, Katelyn Wong, Lauren Foster, and Malu Braga (Maria) used our hardware skills to address the problem of patient safety. Our project, the SurgiSafe Bandage, put an emphasis on postoperative care and our electronics skills, which is why we finished second in a highly competitive track of 23 teams.
The number one thing that this experience taught me was to never undervalue the skills I have as an engineer. I was apprehensive to participate, fearing I would be out of my depth with no coding experience. It was gratifying to see that even in such a competitive Ivy-League environment, the uniqueness of my skill set meant that I had much to offer.
I am deeply grateful to have worked with such an amazing team as I did. The personal moments I had with my teammates- chatting about Brazil, going for a jog, laughing about our video- made the experience special. I have learned a lot from them, and I won't soon forget our friendship. To Katelyn, Lauren, Maria, Luis, Emily, Willis, and the countless others who made my first hackathon so terrific: thank you!
